How to upload a file using the File Manager?

You can upload your files directly through cPanel using the File Manager. The File Manager is a web interface that allows you to manage all the files associated with your account.

How to upload files using the File Manager?


To upload a file to the File Manager:

1. Log in to cPanel.

2. In the Files section, click File Manager.

3. In the upper right hand corner, click Settings

 

4. Select Web Root and Show hidden files (dotfiles), then click Save.

Main Root will take you directly to the folder in your hosting account that is visible on the World Wide Web. This is usually the public_html or www folder and is where your website files should reside.

 

5. Locate and click on the folder where you would like to upload files.

6. Once inside the folder, click on Upload located on the top toolbar.

 

7. Click Choose File (some web browsers will have Choose File instead).

8. Select the file you wish to upload from your computer, then click the Open button to start the upload process.

9. You can select additional files while the upload is in progress.

  • Note: There is a 500 MB upload limit through the File Manager. If you need to upload a larger file, use FTP.

10. The uploaded file should now appear in your folder.
